like the others, but for the ninteno wii

What do you need?

  • an sd card formatted with fat32
  • a wii (either normal or family edition) (duh)
  • that's it

Prep

go to system settings and look in the corner, remember the numbers and letter after "Ver."

continue in system settings by pressing the Internet button and then the Console Information button

look at the Mac Address for the next step by going to [1] and entering in the version and mac address and check the "Bundle the HackMii Installer for me!"

cut the green wire, you don't want to know what happens if you cut the pink wire (this is a joke, you can cut any wire)

then scroll down to the "Download Your Zip!" button to download the zip

sd card time

copy the "private" folder and the "boot.elf" file from the zip and put it on the sd card

put the sd card back into the wii

the hack itself

boot the wii up and go to the message board

find the green letter

you may have to go to the days prior or after to find it

if you don't find it, check if the sd card has errors or the wii's clock is correct

look at the letter by pressing A

you shouldn't be looking at a normal letter, you should be looking at a screen telling you that you shouldn't have paid for this "software"

(if you get a black screen you should reboot and try again) (if you get sent to the wii menu, unlock the sd card)

install homebrew and other stuff

wait until the "Press (1) to Continue" message pops up and press it by pressing 1 on your offical wii controller

select continue once your in the HackMii installer, then select "Install the Homebrew Channel", then press continue after it installs

select back and press "BootMii" and install it as an "IOS" (unrelated to apple products) and then select "Yes, continue"

select "Yes, continue" again and select continue after it installs

if you can select "Install BootMii as boot2", select it like the others

finally select "Exit"

you should now be in everyone's favorite program: "The Homebrew Channel"!!!1!

backing up the system in case it bricks

now that you're in the homebrew channel, press the home button and select "Launch BootMii"

you need to use either a gamecube controller, or the power and reset buttons (power to move and reset to select) to use BootMii

go over to the gear icon and select the first button (the one with the green arrow)

the "NAND" should now be backing up, watch it (bad blocks are normal, just make sure that all the non-bad blocks verify correctly)

press the arrow button and either the Wii or Homebrew buttons to exit

optional: autoboot

if you installed it to boot2 and are sick of BootMii showing up every time you boot up your wii, follow these steps:

  1. put the sd card back in your computer
  1. open the bootmii.ini file in the bootmii folder
  1. remove the hash in front of "#AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU" and "#BOOTDELAY=5"
  1. change the 5 in BOOTDELAY=5 to a 1
  1. save the file and eject the sd card and put the sd card back in the wii and wonder what you're doing with your life before turning the wii back on
